TAP ARCHITECTURE provided interior and graphic design expertise for Sonic Industries, headquartered in Oklahoma City. Sonic, known for classic-style drive-in restaurants, asked TAP to translate the concept and branding into interior design with a raw, auto garage feel reminiscent of their 50 years of drive-in history. TAP delivered – with style – and the prototypes have opened in Scottsdale, Dallas and Oklahoma City.
The creative automotive theme was carried out with sconces crafted from vintage hubcaps, automobile-style vinyl upholstered seating, concrete floors and exposed steel ceilings. The result is a structure that could be duplicated cost-effectively as the prototype was introduced in additional cities.
