City Rescue Mission
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
TAP ARCHIITECTURE transformed a full inner city block into City Rescue Mission’s “campus of care” providing emergency shelter for the homeless and a residential renewal program for those who elect to tackle the personal challenges that face many guests of the Mission. Project components include dining, chapel, dormitories, 54 residential units, medical clinic, gymnasium, childcare, education, vocational training and administration. The project wove together three aging buildings (including Oklahoma City’s oldest inner city school) with such skill that one Oklahoma City Council person was inspired to dub the TAP project designer a “magician”. Clients of the mission travel new passageways between buildings reborn to a new purpose as they seek hope and life-long solutions to the daily challenges of homelessness.
