TAP Designs Homeless Alliance WestTown Resource Center
Kenneth Dennis, Project Architect, observes construction
The ongoing social work of the Homeless Alliance is praised as they break ground on their new TAP-designed WestTown Resource Center!
The program will includes many services that have not been previously under one roof: a day shelther, health clinic, employment training, drug and alcohol counseling, housing assistance, government benefits, welcoming garden spaces and more. This new design is part of a continued effort of collaboration between services provided and agencies that can ultimately better help the homeless.
Construction on the new building is met with growing anticipation; the Homeless Alliance’s temporary residence has been a trailer, or “the wobbly box,” as they call it. TAP ARCHITECTURE has designed features such as a 350-foot geothermal system with future energy costs in mind. Ground-source heating and cooling will help maintain low energy bills for this non-profit organization.

Post Script: The project was completed, is fabulous, and has already won an award – 2012 AIA Honor Award of Excellence, AIA Oklahoma. TAP is especially committed to our projects that serve the public interest.
