Martin Luther King, Jr., K-6 School

The first elementary school constructed under Oklahoma City’s MAPS for Kids program, this facility is heralded as a model for the entire school district. The school includes classrooms, athletic fields and a “cafetorium,” a library and a Media Classroom Center. As the first K-8 school ever built in Oklahoma City, this project required TAP to reexamine conventional thinking towards elementary and middle schools, with a challenge create an environment that with the boundaries needed by children, yet flexible enough to respond to future needs.
