Oklahoma National Memorial Education and Outreach Center
Oklahoma City, OK
TAP’s design concept unifies existing aspects of the Journal Record Building (where the Museum is housed) and the Oklahoma City National Memorial, creating cohesive, functional and meaningful spaces which will serve the needs of the OKC National Memorial foundation and the community.
The Center includes east and West conference spaces, storage areas and a catering kitchen. The spaces can be combines into one space, and the kitchen can serve both spaces separately. The west space can be utilized for community presentations with a stage, podium, A/V closet and presentation technology.
The Center is organized similarly to the outdoor memorial. The east-west great hall, like the reflecting pool outside, is the primary organizing element. Bands of light, matching the placement of existing columns in the Journal Record Building, create a steady rhythm along the great hall.
